MY FAVORITE THINGS OF 2015 (part 1)

What's up family!

I hope this post finds you well and you are rocking the face off of 2016!  One of my favorite things about the internet is surfing around and finding some new things to incorporate into my life.  2015 was an awesome year and I found plenty of things to love that I wish to share with you in hopes that you too can find something that might help make your 2016 a little brighter.  Or, at least help pass the time when it gets a little slow.

Just click on the picture to find out how to get your hands on them.

Here are a few of my favorite things from 2015...

My Favorite APP of 2015:

Draft Kings

Draft Kings is my favorite of the daily fantasy sports apps.  Now, while this app may be free to download, let me just forewarn you that it will most likely cost you more than any other app you will ever purchase... ever.  But, it will also make sports, (any sport) infinitely more fun to watch.  Plus, it's easy to use and unfortunately, easy to lose.  Proceed with caution!

My Favorite Book of 2015:

YOU by Caroline Kepnes

It was a great year in reading and out of the 40 that I read, there were many I would love to share with you.  However, if I had to pick one that stuck with me the most it was this one.  It's all about a creepy stalker, from his perspective, and it goes places you won't see coming.  Kepnes was fantastic at keeping the pages turning and the humorous way she told a creepy story was really on point.  A bonus was the clever way she incorporated our society's obsession with social media.  If you aren't afraid of some bad language, a little blood, and a lot of fun... YOU, is a great weekend read when a little down time comes a callin'.

My Favorite Movie of 2015:

 THE VISIT

Now, I'm not trying to say The Visit is the best movie of 2015, it is just my favorite.  You must understand of course that my favorite genre is scary movies.  I loved everything about this movie.  Especially the twist, which I naively didn't see coming.  I felt 2015 wasn't the best year in movies so hopefully 2016 steps it up!

Side note:  Honorable mentions go to Age of Adeline (don't judge), Ex Machina, The Revenant, Straight Outta Compton and The Martian.

Side note 2:  The worst movie I saw last year was Trainwreck.  And, it wasn't even close.  The movie truly lived up to the title.  Not only do I not get the hype behind Amy Schumer, I find it utterly astounding that people find her funny.

My Favorite Spirit of 2015:

Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon

I am not a huge fan of Knob Creek's regular bourbon, BUT, there Smoked Maple version is out of this world!  It is amazing on the rocks and a perfect dessert after, well, any meal.  What I love most is that although it is flavored, the integrity of the spirit remains uncompromised in every single way.  You will find it delicious, I promise.

My Favorite Cigar of 2015:

Davidoff Nicaragua Toro

So good.  I have long been a fan of Davidoff.  The Nicaragua Toro is a smooth and flavorful smoke that will help you relax and ease into an evening.  FYI, it is a great compliment to a couple fingers of Knob Creek Maple.  Hand and glove my friends.

My Favorite Appliance of 2015:

Cuisinart MSC-600 Slowcooker

This appliance really stepped up my cooking game in 2015.  Seriously, I love this thing.  I have made everything from chili to slow cooked, delectable pulled pork (email me for amazing recipe).  It's super easy to use and there are tons of awesome and tasty slow cooker recipe's online.

My Favorite Song of 2015:

Speakers by Sam Hunt

I know, I know.  It's country, hell hath frozen over!  Those of you that have known me very long undoubtedly know my past distain for Country Music.  Well, for the most part, that hasn't changed.  It is mostly nails-on-chalkboard bad.  However, there are a few artists out there who have wriggled their way onto my iPod.  Sam Hunt has done it in a major way, and his entire album, MONTEVALLO, is great.

When I play this song in particular, I get that amazing vibe of summertime in the south.  Maybe the greatest vibe a man can feel, really.  It transports me to a place where the night sky is unfurling above me, full of stars, and though I don't own a pickup truck, I can feel the calm, warm air all around me, my favorite song pulsating through the speakers...  the sweaty palmed, heart thumping, ear warming passion for the beautiful woman on my arm is thrumming through my body like a high voltage electric current.  Seems like, the rest of the world has disappeared and there is no such thing as tomorrow.

My friends, when a song makes you feel all of that... you keep it on repeat.
